Last night we took the family to the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town, to watched the well loved childhood production of The Sound Of Music.
All I have to say is WOW!
The cast, the set, the production, everything is really good and well worth the watch.
The actress that plays Mother Abess (Janelle Visagie) is phenomenal in her role!
Bethany Dickson as Maria Von Trapp is one of the best castings I have yet to see…she looks, sounds and sings just like Julie Andrews in the movie and really is a star!
The children really is phenomenal and with some of the old favourite songs they brought all the childhood memories back to life.
The only thing I would change is the character of Captain Von Trapp that is being played by Andre Swartz.
The roll of Captain Von Trapp, requires a strong, masculine character with loads of stage presence, which unfortunately Andre don’t seem to possess. (or maybe he just had a off night)
That said, it is definitely one for the family, and one surely not to be missed!
