We really wanted to explore Old Delhi and what better way to just dive into it by visiting the energetic and a little chaotic Chandi Chowk Market in Old Delhi, India.
We got to experience amazing sights, interesting smells and an energy you will not easily find anywhere else.
India, the place where honking seems like it is second nature and if you find yourself on the roads and in this case in the Chandi Chowk market you will know exactly how manic and noisy it can get.
At Chandi Chowk, it is best to go by foot or hire a rickshaw bike ride to get you through the narrow streets. It can cost you about 200 – 500 rupee, but it’s worth it since the market is large and there is a lot to see and experience.
We tasted amazing ice-cream, bargained for goods and even had our pictures taken by the locals 😉 {Yep 2 blonde woman roaming the market caused a bit of a stir}
We also got to see things that is just mind blowing – you are hit by smells and sights you have never experienced before. The poverty we have seen is a sight you will never forget as long as you live, that is for sure.
It is heart breaking but also astonishing to see how the locals make a living, how they survive from day to day and just how they do things in general.
To say the least, you have to keep an open mind when you experience Old Delhi, it has so much to offer and a lot of insight if you are willing to embrace the unknown.
