A Sweet Escape – The One & Only Spa

I love Spa’s.. let me rephrase.. I LOVE Spa’s. There is nothing better than a great therapist working those over tired back and neck muscles whilst being swept away to a far eastern country by the magical tunes and aromatic incense filling the room.  When all the elements of touch, hear and smell comes together in perfect harmony, you know you discovered a slice of heaven.

And so today I bring you the One and Only Spa. Now before you say “Yes you bloggers get everything for free and in return you must write nice stuff about it..” WE PAID!!

From the moment you step in the spa reception, you know you are in for a treat. All the staff are super friendly, well dressed and groomed.  A quick stop at reception to fill in the cards en sipping on their signature organic ice tea with lemons and thingies (It was delicious) we got escorted downstairs to the bathroom area.

Now I usually pay about R750 – R850 for 60 min full body massage. The prices of One and Only’s Spa menu is higher and this made me curious to see what I “get extra” for “paying extra”.. We changed into lush robes and slippers and got a full tour of the bathroom and pool facilities.  Everything you can image is at your disposal, and if it is not there, a telephone is available for any other requests. Beautiful showers with a full range of toiletries, including hairdryers is available for your use.

After our tour we got whisked away to our treatment room. The bed, an important aspect for me, was big, it was in fact huge.  Did I mention it is electronic? No more stuffing towels under your legs and back and neck and where heavens else! On my back I was tilted up a bit with my back firmly supported and my knees raised. It was soft and warm. In my nest I was going to brew for 90 minutes.. Blissssssss..

The therapist wanted to know about all my problem areas and asked me to tell her to adjust the pressure at any time.. This is something most of us are a bit embarrassed to ask.. It is enough getting up close and personal within your space and to ask her to press a bit harder or softer just feels.. well uncomfortable, but my lady friend had a way of making me feel comfortable, that we could speak about anything and everything, even if I had to ask her to press harder or softer #winning

It was perfect, everything was perfect, the setting, the oils, the smells, the music, her touch.  I am pretty sure I wasn’t in Cape Town for that 90 minutes.

And as all good massages go, 90 minutes turned into what feels like 10 minutes and before you knew it it was all over.. When you feel them reaching your last untouched body part your head starts screaming “Dont’ stop don’t stop!!” And it stopped, I was pulled back to planet earth and back to reality.

After our massage we were accompanied to the “Relax” area. With my stomach now growling of hunger I was delighted to see a buffet spread of super healthy snacks and teas. #Bonus! I packed my plate with granola, fresh fruits and yogurt, muesli bars and muffins all sipped down with the finest tea’s South Africa could offer…  Myself and Shireen stretched out on the comfy, heated beds to continue our last bit of paradise.  My body is trying to cope in an overdose of endorphins, I am happy and relaxed and rejuvenated and my stomach is smiling.

I paid R1595 for a 90 minute full body massage. I felt like I got a lot in return and extra that I didn’t expect. Everything was beautiful, perfect and the staff was super friendly and helpful.  It was worth every penny.

We had a great experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone for any occasion.
